BOWLING CLUB

Bowling is a game for all ages.

Galway Lawn Tennis Club (Main Badminton Hall) Tue 13:00 to 15:00 & Fri 10:00 to 12:00 – all year round

Salthill Active Retirement Bowling Club has been in existence for two decades, using GLTC facilities for almost all that time. The club welcomes new members, retired or any adult regularly free at the times we play.

Bowling provides exercise for the mind and body. It is a great game for maintaining co-ordination, balance and flexibility. Once you start bowling, it’s a game you can continue playing, and enjoying for the rest of your active life. It is inexpensive – when you decide to join, all you need is a pair of flat-soled indoor shoes
and few euro annual fees to cover registration. and, on each day you play, pay a small door charge – just €2 at present.

There is a friendly, social, environment. We play two games on each day with an enjoyable tea-break in the interval.

You will be surprised with your own ability to play. On each day, players are drawn to play in teams of either three or four players. Sometimes we have doubles. You might progress to representing the club in competitions (Fours, Trebles, Doubles and Singles) involving 14 other clubs in the Galway area. You can be as competitive as you want to be, or just enjoy social games in your own club.

You can also enjoy outings and social events. The Club organises a couple of outings each year, and a Christmas Party. Members also go on Bowls Breaks, e.g. 120 bowlers (9 from Salthill) will be in Ennistymon for a one week Bowls and Touring break in October.

Come along when we are playing, at about 10:45 on Tuesdays or 13:45 on Fridays, to have a look, and you can enjoy a cup of tea with us. After you have observed a couple of sessions, you will probably be convinced to join our club.
