Declan Bennett Badminton Coach Galway

Badminton Ireland Level 1 Qualified Coach

3 years

My name is Declan Bennett. I’m from Kilkenny and have been playing Badminton for 15 years. I started playing competitively aged 12, when I went to Secondary School and joined my club Johnswell – and I have loved the game ever since. I am a Badminton Ireland Level 1 qualified coach. I have been coaching full time for over 3 years in numerous schools and clubs and worked with county teams in Kilkenny, Carlow, Kildare and Tipperary. I have a degree in Sports Strength and Conditioning from LIT Tipperary where I graduated in 2016.

I am currently ranked 19th in Ireland in Men’s Doubles and 15th in Mixed Doubles. I play for the South Dublin Spartans in the Premier League and have 1 cap for the Leinster Senior Team gained in March 2018. I trained in an Academy in Odense in Denmark in the Summer of 2017 and gained a lot of experience from being around world class players and coaches each day. My plan for the future is to keep improving my knowledge of all aspects of the game to become the best player and coach that I can be.
