QUALIFICATIONS:

Badminton Ireland Level 1 Qualified Coach

COACHING EXPERIENCE:

9 years

My name is Declan Bennett. I’m from Kilkenny and have been playing Badminton for 15 years. I started playing competitively aged 12, when I went to Secondary School and joined my club Johnswell – and I have loved the game ever since. I am a Badminton Ireland qualified coach. I have been coaching full time for over 9 years in numerous schools and clubs and worked with county teams in Kilkenny, Carlow, Kildare and Tipperary and more recently here in Galway. I have a degree in Sports Strength and Conditioning from LIT, Tipperary, where I graduated in 2016.
I am currently ranked #2 in Ireland Men’s Doubles and #2 in Mixed Doubles and have been invited to train at the National High Performance Training Centre in Dublin. I have represented the Leinster Senior Team both at home and abroad. I had the great opportunity to train at an Odense academy in Denmark in the Summer of 2017 and gained a lot of experience from being around world class players and coaches every day.
My plan for the future is to keep improving my knowledge of all aspects of the game to become the best player and coach that I can be.
